Martha
Amram
Martha
Amram is an author and consultant on the valuation and
strategic management of risky corporate assets. During
2003 she consulted on a full-time basis to PLX Systems,
a software company focused on the business management
of intellectual property, where her valuation algorithms
were incorporated into the company's software offerings.
Dr. Amram is an expert and frequent speaker on valuation
and strategy, and she has had a wide range of business
experience in management consulting, startup ventures,
and academia. She is the author of Value Sweep: Mapping
Corporate Growth Opportunities (HBS Press, 2002;
translated into four languages) and the co-author with
Nalin Kulatilaka of Real Options: Managing Strategic
Investment in an Uncertain World (HBS Press, 1998;
translated into five languages). Together these books
have sold over 40,000 copies. Dr. Amram is widely published,
with recent articles in The Journal of Business Strategy,
Strategic Finance, Harvard Business Review
and Journal of Applied Corporate Finance.
Past
experience includes serving as CEO of Vocomo Software
Corporation, an angel-funded startup which provides
software and services for voice applications, and as
Managing Director at Navigant Consulting, where she
was head of the real options practice area. She also
led the design of Navigant's employee stock-options
exchange program and managed strategy consulting teams
across a number of industries, from consumer goods to
energy to high-tech.
Dr.
Amram was a co-founder of Glaze Creek Partners, a consulting
firm, which she sold to Navigant Consulting (NYSE: NCI)
in 1999. She has also served as an expert witness on
valuation while Vice President at Analysis Group/Economics
and has been a faculty member in the School of Management
at Boston University where she taught corporate finance.
Dr. Amram holds a Ph.D. in Applied Economics from MIT
and has served on the boards of several startup companies.

Nalin
Kulatilaka
Nalin
Kulatilaka is the Wing Tat Lee Family Professor of Finance
at the School of Management, Boston University. He also
serves as the Research Director of Global Mobility Innovations
and Insights, a multi-university research consortium
on mobile communications. Professor Kulatilaka's current
research interests deal with issues related to the valuation
of real options and their use in forming an economic
foundation for corporate strategy. His book on this
topic, Real Options: Managing Strategic Investment
in an Uncertain World is published by Harvard Business
School Press.
Professor
Kulatilaka has published extensively in top academic
journals as well as influential managerial publications.
He has received the Graham and Dodd Award from the Association
for Investment Management and Research's in recognition
of his outstanding feature articles published in the
Financial Analysts Journal on the value of employee
stock options. He was the recipient of the 1998 John
Russell award for excellence in executive teaching at
Boston University.
Professor
Kulatilaka is an experienced speaker, addressing a wide
range of executive audiences on issues of risk management
and real options. He holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering
(Imperial College, London), a S.M. in Decision and Control
(Harvard University), and a Ph.D. in Economics/Finance
(MIT).
